AUB celebrates its first Thanks-for-Giving Day

Office of Communications,

As President Fadlo R. Khuri explained in his December 3 video message, “Giving Days are – traditionally – when universities ask others to give. We are instead celebrating Giving Day at AUB this year by doing the giving – giving thanks to you for your support for our university and our enduring mission to serve the people of the Middle East and beyond."

AUB alumni and friends have supported the Solidarity Appeal, which was launched in November 2019 to provide scholarships for our students and assistance for patients seeking care at our medical center; the AUBMC Corona Response Fund (March 2020), which supported AUB's response to COVID-19 including the operations of our Pandemic Evaluation Clinic and Center and patient care; the Emergency Appeal (May 2020), to support the most vulnerable members of our AUB community and help assure the survival of the university and its medical center; and the AUB4Beirut Disaster Response (August 2020), including the AUB4Beirut Run (September 2020) and #AUBNecessary (October 2020), which raised funds for urgent needs on campus and in the community as a result of the August 4 explosion in the Beirut port.

“This has been a challenging year for everyone – for our university, for Lebanon, and for many of our donors and their families and so we are especially grateful for the truly extraordinary support we have received for the many urgent needs at our university and in our community," said VP for Advancement and Business Development Imad B. Baalbaki.
