Asma Ghannam

Biography

Asma graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from AUB in 1982, and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA (USA) in 1986.  After practicing critical care nursing, she joined Merck & Co., Inc. where she spent 23 years working in the areas of clinical research, operations, and scientific publications.  She served as lead coordinator for numerous worldwide clinical trials, and as project leader for multiple division-wide and multidivisional initiatives.  Asma was one of the founding members of the WAAAUB Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Alumni Chapter in 2008, and served as its vice president for two terms.  She also served on the WAAAUB Governance Committee.  More recently, Asma led a team of 45 worldwide alumni as they created the first-ever AUB alumni cookbook "ABUNDANCE - Mediterranean Cuisine". The cookbook was launched in Beirut, May 2016, and is being sold in Lebanon at Librarie Antoine.  Since the US sold out of the hard copy book, efforts are ongoing to create the ebook format for posting and sale on Amazon.com (US).  All proceeds from cookbook sales go towards the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley  Chapter Endowed Student Scholarship Fund.
