  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

October 30, 2014 – The Mahmoud Kahil Book and Awards Program Launch

The Mahmoud Kahil Foundation, in conjunction with the Mu’taz and Rada Sawwaf Arabic Comics Initiative at AUB, celebrated the book launch of the latest publication about renowned editorial cartoonist Mahmoud Kahil's life and work, “According to Kahil” at the Villa Audi. The event also displayed original works by the artist.

The founders of the MK foundation, Nazmi Kahil and Dana Kahil Trometer, the president of the American University of Beirut Dr. Peter Dorman and the Director of the Initiative Lina Ghaibeh, were present at the event and offered words on the importance of Kahil’s work and the medium with which he transcribed issues of the politics, social injustices and humanitarian aid in the Middle East Region.

In addition to the launch of the book, this event also launched the Mahmoud Kahil Award program and announced the Mu’taz and Rada Sawwaf Arabic Comics Initiative!
