Fida Afiouni is an HR and Gender expert, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa. She is a Tenured Associate Professor in HRM at the Olayan School of Business, and a founding member of the Center for inclusive business and leadership (CIBL). She served as the convener of the Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship track from 2018 to 2021 and she is currently serving as an Associate Provost, leading many faculty development initiatives as well as overseeing the activities of the continuous education center. Fida also leads the inequalities and social justice research cluster initiative, and serves on the Senate, Title IX, and is a member or the DEI Office’s steering committee.
Fida is an engaged scholar and is a PI / co-PI on EU and MEPI grants aiming to develop inclusive HR practices and gender equality plans in the region. Her publications, at the intersection of HR, careers, and gender, have won multiple awards and have appeared in leading journals in her field, the most recent being in Gender, Work, and Organization, the Journal of Vocational Behavior, Human Resource Management Journal, Business Research Quarterly, Career Development International, and the International Journal of Human Resource Management. Fida is currently a section editor in the Journal of Business Ethics, an Associate Editor in the International Journal of Human Resource Management, and an editorial board member in CDI and HRMJ. Fida is also an expert speaker or facilitator in Executive Education programs and in regional and international workshops and webinars in English, French and Arabic on topics pertaining to inclusive HR systems, Gender balance, and women’s economic empowerment.
Fida obtained her PhD in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University with the highest distinction and was the recipient of the Sharjah Prize for the best doctoral thesis in administrative sciences in the Arab world for the year 2005 granted by ARADO.
