AUBMC, aimed to empower women in Lebanon’s healthcare sector with leadership, management, and essential soft skills to advance their careers. Participants came from diverse regions and career stages, creating an environment rich in exchange and collaboration.
Team
Day One
The program opened with welcoming remarks from Dean Yusuf Sidani and Dr. Nada Khaddage. Dr. Ghina Ghazeeri shared lessons from her leadership journey, including the creation of the Hope Fund. Dr. Rola Chami-Malaeb led a session on transformational change, illustrated with a case from AUBMC. Dr. Mona Itani discussed intrapreneurship and strategies for fostering innovation within organizations.
Day Two
The second day began with Dr. Nada Khaddage’s exploration of emotional intelligence, supported by Dr. Hiba Hmadeh’s practical tools for building trust and authentic communication. Dr. Maya Roumani provided strategies for mastering work-life integration and preventing burnout, encouraging leaders to prioritize well-being. Ms. Nayla Abi Younes examined ways to overcome gender bias, bridge generational gaps, and foster inclusive environments, with clinical insights from Dr. Lara Nahhouli. The program closed with Dr. Nada Khaddage’s session on negotiation, self-advocacy, and celebrating achievements.
Outcome
With 18 women healthcare workers attending the first cohort of this project, this initiative was able to create an extended impact in hospitals across Lebanon throughout the duration of the workshop which encompassed distressing stories that the healthcare sector in Lebanon had suffered, learned leadership, and ways that women can continue to lead and keep their teams afloat, surviving, and thriving in a sector like this one.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks and a certificate distribution ceremony, marking the beginning of a strengthened network of women leaders ready to transform healthcare. Participants left equipped with tools to lead with empathy, challenge gender barriers, and sustain well-being in demanding professional environments.
