Below you will find a message from the Registrar's Office with critical information you will need in order to receive your diploma and participate in the commencement exercises.

Dear Students,

Congratulations on your academic achievements. I am pleased to share with you this important information as you prepare to receive your diploma at the upcoming Graduate and Undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies.

All candidates are required to wear the appropriate academic regalia (GOWN, CAP, and HOOD) for the ceremony. Academic regalia are available in West Hall (Room B20; ext: 3155) for the FAS, FAFS, FHS and OSB and in Post Office (ext. 2192) for MSFEA, FM and HSON. In addition, it is recommended that all female candidates wear a white dress or a plain color dress. No jewelry or decoration should be worn on the gown. It is recommended that male candidates wear a dark suit with a white shirt and a plain color necktie.

During the Honorary Doctorate Ceremony and Graduate Commencement Ceremony (on Friday, May 31, 2019) and the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony (on Saturday, June 1, 2019), due to the much higher number of graduating students, empty diploma jackets will be distributed to graduating students. This will ensure a more efficient, smooth flow of the ceremony.

The Registrar's Office at College Hall will remain open until 12:00 am on both May 31 and June 1 to distribute diplomas to those who need to retrieve them. In order to be able to do that, all interested students must send an email to: by Friday, May 24, 2019.

To avoid crowding and long queues, we strongly urge all students remaining in Lebanon beyond commencement weekend to visit the Registrar's Office to retrieve their diplomas during regular working hours starting Monday, June 3, 2019. Each student will be required to present a photo ID and will be asked for signature upon receipt of diploma. You are kindly requested to bring your diploma jacket with you.

A rehearsal for the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will be held at the University Athletic Green Field on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 5:30 pm. All undergraduate candidates for graduation must attend the rehearsal. Candidates who cannot attend the rehearsal need to present a valid excuse here by Friday, May 24, 2019. Names of unexcused candidates who are not present at the rehearsal will be removed from the seating plan and the candidates will not be able to receive their degrees during the commencement ceremony.

For the Academic Procession on June 1, the undergraduate candidates must congregate at the south end of the Athletic Green Field no later than 6:00 pm. Candidates should enter from the ramp leading down to the Athletic Green Field, between the Charles W. Hostler Student Center and the Green Field. Candidates who arrive later than 6:00 pm will not be allowed to join the procession.

Please be reminded that you may choose not to attend. If you choose to attend, you are expected to behave in an orderly manner and give the occasion the dignity it deserves. Candidates should remain in their places until the end of the commencement ceremony.

A surprise performance will take place at the end of each commencement ceremony. We hope you will enjoy this celebratory experience.

Undergraduate student candidates are entitled to THREE tickets each for the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on June 1, 2019.

Tickets will be given to candidates who have secured their academic regalia and will be attending the ceremony.

For candidates who had completed their graduation requirements in October 2018 or February 2019, tickets will only be offered to those who have officially notified the Registrar's Office of their intention to attend and participate in the commencement ceremony by filling out the Exit Survey during the clearance process. Candidates who will complete their graduation requirements in May 2019 but choose not to attend the ceremony must also inform the Registrar's Office through the Exit Survey during clearance.

If you have already filled out the Exit Survey but would like to modify your confirmation, you need to complete a special form (Form CE 1 for October 2018 and February 2019 graduates, and Form CE 2 for May 2019 graduates) no later than Friday, April 26, 2019. Candidates who will complete their graduation requirements in May 2019 and will attend the commencement exercises do not need to fill out any forms.
