To ensure compliance with applicable intellectual property and copyright laws, all movie screenings intended to take place on Campus or organized by a University unit, student club, or any other affiliated group must adhere to below guidelines before they are advertised or conducted.
While certain screenings organized as part of the University's educational activities may qualify for exemptions under applicable law, many screenings, particularly those intended for recreational or entertainment purposes or open to audiences beyond the immediate University community, may require prior authorization from the producer or copyright holder.
Accordingly, organizers of paid movie screenings or screenings open to the public outside AUB are required to submit their proposed event for review to the Office of Communications sufficiently in advance of the planned screening. This review will determine whether any licenses, permissions, or other requirements apply before the event may take place.
No such movie screening should be advertised or held until the required review has been completed and approval has been obtained.
This process is intended to protect the University, its organizers, and participants by ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements while supporting the responsible organization of campus events.
We appreciate your cooperation and encourage organizers to contact the Office of Communications should they have any questions regarding the review process or applicable requirements.
Please email communications@aub.edu.lb for approvals or inquiries.
