• Awardees 2022-23
  

  Emphasizing its commitment to teaching as a scholarly endeavor, the American University of Beirut (AUB) held its annual Teaching Excellence Award ceremony to recognize individuals who have exhibited excellence and effectiveness in the advancement of AUB's educational programs. This year, Dr. Pierre Karam and Dr. Sawsan Abdulrahim were honored for their outstanding contributions to instruction, mentoring, services, professional development, and innovation.

• Awardees 2021-22 

  AUB held its annual ceremony to present the AUB Teaching Excellence and the Innovation in Teaching with Technology awards to faculty members who were nominated by their colleagues and students and presented work that demonstrated outstanding work.

  The AUB Teaching Excellence Awards are presented based on evidence of teaching effectiveness and contributions to the advancement of AUB's educational mission. They recognize faculty members who, using innovative and holistic approaches, demonstrate scholarly endeavor and pursue activities that most enhance their contribution as mentors and educators. Winners of this award this year were AUB alumnae: Dr. Bana Bashour and Dr. Angela Massouh.
  
  

  The Innovation in Teaching with Technology Award honors creativity and innovation in teaching with the use of new instructional technologies and tools that make a positive impact on student learning. The winner of this award this year was Dr. Kirsten Scheid.​
  

  This year, the ceremony was held in person, after suspending the ceremony for two years due to the pandemic and other pressing circumstances. Professors awarded in 2020 and 2021 were acknowledged and present at this year's ceremony.

  “With their extraordinary commitment, their skill, their ability to innovate, to overcome despair, today's recipients and last year's and 2020's exemplify the leadership, the mentorship, the dedication, and the engaged citizenship that we aspire to at AUB," said AUB President Fadlo Khuri. “For that we thank you, you inspire not only your students, you inspire us to try harder."
  

  
  

• Awardees of​ 2020-21 

  The AUB Teaching Excellence Award Committee has voted to present this year's award to Dr. Rouwaida Kanj, Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and to Dr. Sally Temraz, Associate Professor of Clinical Specialty at the Department of Internal Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine.

  The AUB Innovation in Teaching with Technology Award Committee has voted to present the inaugural award to Dr. Alissar Yehya, Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and to Dr. Blake Atwood, Associate Professor of Media Studies and the Chair of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Media Studies, in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

  On Tuesday, May 12, 2020,  the Teaching Excellence Award was presented to two AUB faculty members​​: Dr. David Currell, Assistant Professor​ at the Department of English, FAS; and Mrs. Lina Ghaibeh, Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture and Design, MSFEA.​​​​

  On Tuesday, May 6, 2019 the Teaching Excellence Award was presented t​o two AUB faculty members​​:

  On Monday, June 23, 2005 the Teaching Excellence Award was presented to  two AUB faculty members: 
  Dr. Salah Sadek, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering , FEA.
  Dr. Muhammad Ali Khalidi, Associate Professor of Philosophy, FAS.  Due to Dr. Khalidi's presence in the US during the ceremony, Dr. Koons attended the ceremony on his behalf.
