On September 4, 2024, the American University of Beirut Board of Trustees approved the naming of the AUB Teaching Excellence Award, first established by the Office of the Provost in 2002. As of now, this award will be known as the Saouma Boujaoude Teaching Excellence Award.

“The naming of the Saouma Boujaoude Teaching Excellence Award is a tribute to a prominent academic, and a cherished colleague and mentor committed to excellence in teaching and learning as a scholarly endeavor. It celebrates a legacy of mentorship, selfless leadership, and excellence in education, inspiring generations to uphold the highest standards and the passion that Dr. Saouma Boujaoude himself has manifested throughout his outstanding career."
