The Bassam Hamdi Al Aker Scholarship in Agricultural and​​​ Biosystems Engineering​

​The Bassam Hamdi Al Aker Scholarship in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering is merit based scholarship and will be used to pay for the tuition and other attendance-related fees of the  selected undergraduate students majoring in undergraduate study in the fields of Agricultural or Biosystems Engineering at FAFS.  

The scholarship will be over-and-above what the student receives from AUB - if the students demonstrate financial need as recommended the Office of Financial Aid. 
 
 The scholarship will be awarded provided that the students obtain a Composite SAT score of 1200 or its equivalent test (as per AUB regulations) and are in good academic standing and maintains a minimum of 80/100 GPA each semester.

It also seeks to incentivize high achievers to realize their potential and create significant social impact in their communities and become national role models. 
The Bassam Hamdi Al Aker Scholarship in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering will continue to grant support to previous year recipients until they graduate, as long as the students continue to  demonstrate financial need and maintain good academic standing.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for consideration, all applicants must meet the following conditions:

  1.  Submit a complete application and provide all required documents prior to the deadline.
  2. Receive an acceptance as an undergraduate student in the Agricultural Engineering Program or the Biosystems Engineering Program.
  3. Obtain a minimum composite SAT score of 1200 or its equivalent test (as per AUB regulations)
  4. Hold high academic records for the first, second and third secondary classes (minimum 80/100 cumulative average for each year).
  5. Obtain a high score on the Lebanese official baccalaureate examinations or its equivalent (French Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate, or freshman records).
  6. Demonstrate (through an in-person interview and a written statement of purpose) a strong interest in agriculture and possess leadership qualities that position him/her to become a successful entrepreneur that creates positive social impact in his/her community and society at large. 
  7. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Y​es, if you have already applied to financial aid, you can still apply for the  Bassam Hamdi Al Aker Scholarship in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering 
 
  • Are there any school grade requirements? 
Your school grades will be considered for acceptance to the Agriculture Major /and or Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and as part of the regular AUB admissions process. Refer to​here ​for “Requirements" 
 
  • What if​ I didn't get accepted to the Agriculture Program, but I was accepted to another FAFS program? 
This scholarship is limited to the Agricultural Sciences or Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Programs only. 
 
  • What does this scholarship cover? 
The scholarship covers the tuition and other attendance-related fees of the selected undergraduate students majoring in undergraduate study in the fields of Agricultural or Biosystems Engineering at FAFS.  
The scholarship will be over-and-above what the student receives from AUB - if the students demonstrate financial need as recommended the Office of Financial Aid. 
 
  • How do I know if I am shortlisted? 
You will be contacted if you have been shortlisted and you will be called for an interview.
