 Souk aal Souk - Farmers' Market

​​​"Souk aal Souk" is a Farmers' Market for local and healthy products which aims at promoting organic and healthy food of local farmers and small producers from different Lebanese areas; it also intends to build linkages between urban residents and rural producers by offering the city customers the access to healthy traditional food and direct contact with the producers themselves. It is managed by a unit of trained locals from cooperatives, non-governmental organizations, and producers.​

Farmers' Market initially started under: "The Promotion of Organic and Local Healthy Products Through Farmers' Markets and Souk Aal Souk" Projects:​

  • 1st awarded project: "Promotion of Organic and Local Healthy Products through a Weekly Farmers' Market" - Oct. 2012 - October 2013
  • 2nd Awarded project: "Souk Aal Souk" - Aug. 2014 - Oct. 2015
  • ( Both Projects Funded by Water Front City Cares)

ESDU is responsible of organizing the market and developing a strategic work plan to enhance marketing of sustainably produced foods.  The monthly m​​arkets present around 20 producers from all over Lebanon, (mostly organized at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at AUB), with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, organic and local products, mouneh, pastries, saj etc... The latest nutrition tips and advice are given out at our nutrition booth, along with cooking demonstrations. ​
