"Souk aal Souk" is a Farmers' Market for local and healthy products which aims at promoting organic and healthy food of local farmers and small producers from different Lebanese areas; it also intends to build linkages between urban residents and rural producers by offering the city customers the access to healthy traditional food and direct contact with the producers themselves. It is managed by a unit of trained locals from cooperatives, non-governmental organizations, and producers.
Farmers' Market initially started under: "The Promotion of Organic and Local Healthy Products Through Farmers' Markets and Souk Aal Souk" Projects:
ESDU is responsible of organizing the market and developing a strategic work plan to enhance marketing of sustainably produced foods. The monthly markets present around 20 producers from all over Lebanon, (mostly organized at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at AUB), with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, organic and local products, mouneh, pastries, saj etc... The latest nutrition tips and advice are given out at our nutrition booth, along with cooking demonstrations.
