Professor Salma Talhouk (LDEM) announced the launch of the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) Lebanon Network. ESP is an international network that connects over 3000 scientists, policymakers, and practitioners, working in more than 40 Working Groups and a growing number of National Networks on all continents. ESP regularly organizes international and regional conferences and provides many services to enhance the application of ecosystem services for nature conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable management. The objectives of ESP Lebanon Network include:
- Introduce and apply ecosystem services in teaching, research, project planning and implementation, and policies;
- Develop and promote ecosystem service-based activities and collaboration; and
- Create a critical mass of individuals and institutions that use tools to evaluate Lebanon's landscapes and shed light on the ecosystem services they offer.
