On Tuesday, June 26, Dr. Martin Keulertz, chairperson of the Food Security Program Executive Committee, presented at the BRISMES Annual Conference 2018 in London, UK. The British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (popularly known as BRISMES) was established in 1973 to encourage and promote the study of the Middle East in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Keulertz’s presentation focused on the MENARA Geo-spatial tool, which provides an assessment of the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) in terms of its strength, weakness, opportunity, and threats (SWOT analysis). The MENARA Geo-spatial SWOT Analysis Tool www.policysupport.org was designed and launched at the Horizon 2020 MENARA Project (Middle East and North Africa Regional Architecture project) and funded by the European Union. The project studies the insights of geopolitical, economic, and environmental status of the MENA region and identifies the driving forces behind it. It also sheds light on bottom-up dynamics and assesses the implications of these processes on the EU and its policies towards the region.
