FAFS hosted the launch of the evaluation report, The IMF and Fragile States, at the Michel and Sherine Bayoud Lecture Hall on July 31, 2018. The workshop was organized by Le Cercle des Economistes Arabes and the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in partnership with the Applied Economics and Development research group at the American University of Beirut (AED-AUB) and Banque BEMO.

The launch showcased the report’s findings and was followed by a discussion that brought together local and international experts to discuss the issue of fragility, financial stability and the IMF and the way forward. Keynote speakers included Mr. Charles Collyns, Director of the IEO, Mr. Shinji Takagi, Assistant Director of the IEO, Mr. Samir Aita, President of Le Cercle des Economistes Arabes, Dr. Saladin Hadeethi, Director of debt at the Iraq Ministry of Finance, and Dr. Riad Obegi, President of Banque BEMO.
