During his recent visit to College Station, USA, Dean Mohtar convened a webinar session during which he provided an overview of the recently signed MOU between Texas A&M University, Texas A&M-Qatar, and the American University of Beirut. The Dean described the opportunities offered by the MOU, particularly in the areas of research, field exchanges and faculty mobility. He also used this occasion to present the initiative, led by AUB in the Middle East region that looks at the water-energy-food-health nexus (WEFRAH); and the details of the Kellogg Foundation, project.
The latter involves a partnership with the Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA) and Earth University featuring institutionally-based workshops, faculty and student exchange, and learning networks. The partnership is expected to contribute to educational reform through a new participatory and service learning model of integrated problem solving, entrepreneurship, environmental consciousness, ethical leadership and decision-making, and community and citizen engagement using the Earth University model for universities in Latin America and North America.
