Kamel Louafi presented his works and philosophy to faculty and students of the Department of Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management (LDEM) and the larger AUB community on October 24.

Louafi, an Algerian-German author, topographer, landscape architect, and artist, is the founding member (1996) of the Kamel Louafi Landscape Architects office in Berlin. He has completed several landscape architecture and art-in-public-spaces projects in Europe, Algeria, and the Orient and has received numerous awards. He was recently nominated for the 2018 Arab Architects Award, held in Beirut (October 2018). The lecture, organized by LDEM and the Lebanese Landscape Association (LELA), shed light on his approach to the latest issues and challenges in landscape architecture and on the importance of working across scales and cultural contexts.
