FAFS and AUB faculty, staff, students and their families visited AREC in the Beqaa valley to participate in the annual AREC Night and Harvest Day (October 12 & 13). Starting on the 12th, faculty and staff headed for the yearly AREC night that gathers faculty and staff, along with their families, and allows for bonding across all departments at AUB, as well as enabling the participants to enjoy delicious local dinner, a bonfire with treats, and to enjoy the newly renovated lodging facilities within AREC.
The following day, more students and family members went to AREC to take part in Harvest day. Dean Mohtar welcomed all the new arrivals, and they were treated to breakfast, live music, and of course the option to harvest. With fresh sweet corn, eggs, and apples to be harvested, many participants left with bags full of fresh food to remember an amazing day. The children also got to carve pumpkins in spirit of Halloween, and got to play amongst the new structures.
Finally, they were given tours around AREC, being able to learn about the different facilities that they have and what each station does. They saw the irrigation machines that they have, the different crops that they grow, and as well as the cows purchased for the relaunch of the AREC Creamery.
We are happy that everyone had a great time, and are already excited for next year's harvest day! If you missed this year's opportunity, make sure to follow us across all social media platforms to stay in loop of when the next one is taking place, along with all our other events!
