FAFS faculty meet to discuss 2025 strategic plan

Building on FAFS 2025 strategic plan launched during fall 2018, faculty and staff participated in a one-day retreat on October 12, 2019, at the LDEM Department in Reynolds Hall.  During the morning sessions, FAFS Departments and programs presented their accomplishments and broad actions that took place during the past year in alignment to the Faculty’s strategic plan. Chairpersons and program directors shared suggestions of specific implementation plans in support of the FAFS 2025 goals and objectives. Faculty and staff then worked in groups to fine tune suggestions for aligning their departmental or program strategies with the FAFS plan and ways in which to develop more detailed action plans.

The final session, moderated by Dean Mohtar, included an open discussion in which faculty members offered suggestions for a more effective and efficient implementation of FAFS 2025, and led to departmental and program presentations that summarized the way forward for their respective strategic plans. These items were compiled and presented by Dr. Maya Nabhani, who summarized the roadmap for implementing the FAFS 2025 strategic plan. The road map highlighted initiatives for research, community engagement, workload/life balance, new programs, sustainability of existing programs, and strategic space needs; it also identified the focal person for each of these initiatives.
