Fit-a-Thon 2019: Nutrition Speaks Sustainability

The dietetic interns and nutrition students at FAFS, in collaboration with the AUBMC Health and Wellness Center, celebrated World Obesity Awareness Day in the annual Fit-a-Thon event (October 11).

This year, the students prepared a range of fun and educational activities along the theme of Nutrition Speaks Sustainability. Passing by the “Discover your Body’s Power” booth, participants underwent a full body assessment after which the students explained the results and gave out dietary advice accordingly. Participants also got to test their knowledge with a game of “Spin the Wheel.” The “Go Global Snack Local” booth gave more insight into understanding nutrition labels and making healthier food choices in our fast-paced daily lives. Participants also received an electronic cookbook prepared by the students with easy snacking recipes using local and fresh ingredients. At “Unearth your Fitness Strengths” participants tested their fitness knowledge, learned natural protein smoothie recipes, and engaged in fun and challenging work-outs.

With over 100 students, faculty and staff members taking part in the event, the Fit-a-Thon was once again a success in promoting healthy eating and active living within the AUB community. At the end of this informative and joyful event, there were 48 lucky participants who won a variety of prizes including food vouchers, gym passes and more!
