Dr. Beata Dreksler and three LDEM students, Luna Mansour, Ranim Hariri, and Abdul Halim Hariri, represented AUB in an intensive workshop for The Middle East Social Innovation Lab (MESIL) (November 15-23).

This was the second workshop organized by a DAAD funded program, Higher Education Dialogue with the Muslim World, in cooperation with Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Umwelt, Nürtingen-Geislinger (Germany), German Jordanian University (Jordan), Birzeit University (Palestine), and American University of Beirut (AUB).

The first workshop, attended by Ms. Al-Akl and several LDEM students, took place in Ajloun, Jordan (June 2019). The international and interdisciplinary organization of the workshop offered a unique experience that combined design (landscape architecture and architecture) with business. Students worked on Klein-Tischard neighborhood of Nürtingen, developing proposals in the framework of 11th UN Sustainable Development Goal to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
