Identifying Communication Barriers to Successful implementation of Soil and Water Technology for Improving Food Security by Claire Friedrichsen

​​During June, Dr. Claire Friedrichsen, University of Florida, joined ESDU as an intern and visiting scientist. Dr. Friedrichsen completed her PhD (2019) in Soil and Water Sciences.


She is an interdisciplinary scientist with a research methodology background in qualitative social sciences. Claire presented a seminar (June 17) in which she shared the outcomes of her study: Identifying Communication Barriers to Successful implementation of Soil and Water Technology for Improving Food Security.

The research examined stakeholder communication regarding soil and water technology development and dissemination through three case studies: soil health for food security in India, maintenance of constructed wetlands for decentralized wastewater treatment in India, and the soil-food value chain in south Florida.​
