Maria Trovato on Migrants and Common Ground – IFLA, Oslo 2019

Dr. Maria Gabriella Trovato, Assistant Professor at LDEM and Chair of the Landscape Architects Without Borders (LAWB) group under the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), organized and moderated a breakout session at the IFLA 2019 Congress held in Oslo, Norway (September 18-19). The Congress, which was attended by over 1300 participants and hosted over 250 talks, delved into the theme of the Common Ground: t​he global challenge for a sustainable life is affecting countries and communities worldwide. Landscape architecture is increasingly leading the way in addressing the complex ecological, social, and economic problems confronting rapid urbanization and resource re-allocation in both established and developing countries.

The LAWB session titled Migrants and Common Ground: how design can accommodate newcomers inquired invited Architects, Urban Planners and Landscape architects on the common role design disciplines play in addressing the migratory conditions of displaced people worldwide.​​
