FAFS welcomed the undergraduate students accepted into the faculty for the fall semester of Academic Year 2019-2020 (August 26) in the Michel and Sherine Bayoud Lecture Hall (Room 102).
In addition to introducing the new students to faculty and staff, Dean Mohtar emphasized the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relation to FAFS disciplines. Dean Mohtar announced that FAFS will pioneer the ban on plastic water bottles within the FAFS community and that FAFS distributed recyclable water bottles to all students. The bottles can be refilled from water dispensers available in the FAFS Student Lounge and the FAFS Computer Lab.
Dr. Mohamad Farran, Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies, gave a presentation on academic advising, following which the students divided into four groups based on their disciplines and met with Dr. Farran (Agriculture and Agribusiness), Dr. Chamieh (Nutrition and Dietetics), Dr. Abiad (Food Science and Management), and Dr. Trovato (Landscape Architecture). Students spent the remainder of their Orientation on Tuesday and Wednesday scheduling courses, meeting their academic advisors, and attending information sessions.
