Dr. Mohamed Abiad, Director of FAFS' Laboratories for the Environment, Agriculture, and Food (LEAF) discussed the impact of the August 4th Beirut explosion on Lebanon's food supply. Stressing the importance of testing food for spoilage organisms and pathogens to prevent food poisoning outbreaks and physical hazards., Dr. Abiad agreed to cooperate closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and use the LEAF lab facilities to help run such tests.
