Ajyal Salima school program Train the Trainers virtual workshops

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted education: lead to a school lockdown in Lebanon that strengthened the drive to digitalization of Ajyal Salima school program.

Developed at the FAFS Nutrition Department in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Nestle Middle East, the Ajyal Salima program has raised nutrition awareness in Lebanese schools since 2010, through face to face workshops during November and December that trained health educators from 50 new schools each year.

Safety restrictions brought about by the pandemic caused a new approach this year: on November 5, an online “train the trainers" workshop was conducted by Dr. Carla Habib-Mourad and her team. Forty supervisors and health educators from the Ministry of Education received online material developed specifically to help the ministry team implement their online sessions with the students and included interactive presentations, videos for healthy recipes, and various hands-on activities.
