As part of the FAFS Online Seminar Series, the Faculty held (November 24) a webinar featuring Dr. Ali Karnib, Professor of Engineering at the Lebanese University, who discussed “Modeling the Water-Energy-Food Nexus: Bridging Science and Policy Making".
The webinar addressed the ways in which the highly interconnected water, energy, and food (WEF) systems affect one another both directly and indirectly. Science-based WEF nexus assessment tools that quantify the direct and indirect impacts of potential policies upon the water, energy, and food systems are essential to inform policy makers regarding the present and future scenarios for their use.
Dr. Karnib presented the Q-Nexus Model, a quantitative WEF nexus assessment methodology for analyzing various WEF policy scenarios toward improving long-term outcomes.
