The Transforming Higher Education project organized its fourth webinar entitled “Community Engagement during COVID-19: is it Possible?" on December 2, 2020.
During the webinar, Dr. Julieta Mazzola, Technical Coordinator, Community Development Program, and Professor at EARTH University, presented an overview of community engagement and her experience in a service-learning course at EARTH University during COVID-19. Dr. Rabih Shibli, Director, Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service at AUB, spoke about the roles of AUB and the Center in engaging with the community, especially during COVID and post Beirut Blast. Dr Felipe Gonzalez, Technological Institute of Higher Education, Calkini, Mexico, and Dr Walter Odongo of Gulu University, Uganda, presented their experiences with community engagement over the past year and the challenges they faced.
A total of 84 participants from 13 countries and 32 institutions participated in the webinar discussion, which was co-moderated by Project Director Dr. Jim French with Dr. Roula Bachour from FAFS-AUB.
