LDEM’s Salma Talhouk launches Daskara Application

LDEM's Professor Salma Talhouk just released the phone application Daskara (Arabic for “authentic village"). The application helps users recognize and enrich Lebanese heritage by adding and discovering natural and cultural landmarks in Lebanon. The information provided on Daskara is community-sourced and verified. Users can expand the database by adding locations under different themes including cultural experiences, eco-solutions, food, lodging, nature encounters, recreation and sports, and local services. They can also contribute a village page. Daskara is a joint project of the Nature Conservation Center at the American University of Beirut and Fondation Diane. The app can be downloaded here.
