It is with great honor to announce that the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) has granted the Nutrition and Food Science (NFSC) Department at AUB the “EASO International Affiliate COM status".  NFSC department, since its establishment, is known to be a leading center in addressing obesity and its related diseases, through research, training, etc.

In the past 3 years, an affiliated clinic was established and this clinic handles obese subjects through an inter-disciplinary approach where dietitians, physiotherapists, and physical activity experts were teaming up to treat this non-communicable disease. Furthermore, Referrals of clients/patients to the department of medicine at AUBMC and the Counseling Center at AUB took place as well. In addition to clinical/dietary activities, the NFSC clinic (at hostler) has been conducting research related to dietary habits, physical activity, and lifestyle effects on health.

The EASO COM network brings together accredited centers from across Europe and NFSC-AUB has become one of its internationally affiliated entities located outside Europe. As a member of this network, the NFSC department will have the opportunity to contribute to a number of important EASO projects related to developing consensus obesity management guidelines as well as exchanging expertise during specially convened 'COM Summit Meetings'
