The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at AUB became an Associate Member of the Global Confederation for Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA).
The confederation is a global network of national and regional Higher Education Associations. The mission of GCHERA is to:
(1) encourage mutual understanding and global co-operation among higher education associations and their constituent member universities;
(2) provide leadership in education, research, innovation and outreach in agricultural and life sciences; and
(3) be a catalyst for the sharing and adoption of best practices across its membership.
FAFS was unanimously accepted as a member during the General Assembly of GCHERA (December 8, 2020), with the endorsement of GCHERA President Dr. Jose Zaglul, by representatives of the 16 member associations and its associate members. Dr Isam Bashour represented FAFS during the General Assembly. FAFS will continue collaborating with GCHERA on the Transforming Higher Education project and will catalyze a network of agricultural universities in the Arab world.
