The Silos Committee will investigate the safety of the structures, assess the grains stored there in terms of their safety for consumption (by humans or animals), and explore best method for emptying the silos.  Following the explosion, only 14 silos remained intact: eight of which contain 2,000 metric tons of corn and six hold 700 metric tons of wheat. LEAF has led laboratory testing for mycotoxins, heavy metals, hydrocarbons, and other potentially hazardous contaminants resulting from the explosion. Outcomes of this investigation will be released by the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
