Open House on Experiential Learning Through Community Engagement

​​​On November 11, 2020, FAFS held an Open House on Experiential Learning Through Community Engagement to launch this year's Global Design Team (GDT) Capstone projects. Dean Mohtar introduced the course and its objectives, highlighting the need for service and experiential learning courses as part of a curricula that better prepares FAFS graduates as future leaders and agents of positive change.

The Dean explained the collaboration between Texas A&M, Purdue and FAFS on two projects: 1) the Fruit Dryer project, sponsored by Dr. Walid Abou El Hosn and led by Dr. Farid Breidi of Purdue University, and 2) the project on “Integrating Food Waste Disposal Solutions with Fish and Vegetable Production," sponsored by Dr. Mustapha Haidar and Dr. Imad Saoud of AUB and advised by Dr. Sergio Capareda of Texas A&M University. 

The event concluded with a discussion and Q&A with the students.
