René Moawad Foundation (RMF) organized a workshop "Strengthening Exports of Fruits and Vegetables from Lebanon to European and Regional Markets'' to around 100 farmers and vineyards owners of the Bekaa region and nearby villages at AREC (February 5) . Funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the workshop aimed to enhance economic advancement in Lebanon through the strengthening of four specific value chains (grapes, potatoes, cherries, and avocados) towards improved exports; this can be achieved by supporting the export-enabling environment among concerned stakeholders and chain actors. These actors include farmers, SME's, exporters, government bodies and private sector mainly in affected remote areas.
Training sessions were provided to the attendees by Mr. Joseph Hatem (Bekaa Senior Area Coordinator) along with three Agricultural Engineers. Farmers were also introduced to a mobile application that supports their pre-harvest capacities and disseminate targeted alerts. It also assisted them in creating linkages with European and regional markets through trade fairs to facilitate export.
