The Food Security Program and partner institutions delivered the AGREE Winter School 2020 (December 7-12, 2020). With the theme Sustainability of Agri-Ecological Systems in the MENA Region, the Winter School's virtual program welcomed more than 30 participants from countries in MENA, Europe, and Asia. Participants were competitively selected, early-career academics, MS and PhD students from several universities, including AUB.
The Winter School was organized under the leadership of the University of Kassel (Germany) in partnership with the Agronomic and Veterinary Institute Hassan II (Morocco), INGREF (Tunisia), and Ecole Supérieur d'Agriculture de Mograne (Tunisia). Funding support from DAAD made the workshop available free of charge to participants.
FAFS' collaborative relationship with University of Kassel has demonstrated strength in agriculture and agro-ecology, and includes a memorandum of understanding and opportunities for faculty/staff/student exchange under the EU's Erasmus program. The AUB team was led by Abed Al Kareem Yehya (Food Security Program), with support from Martin Keulertz and Rachel Bahn.
