The Landscape Architecture Student Society (LASS) collaborated with TheOtherDada (tOD) in the creation of an urban forest in Zouk Mosbeh, next to the infamous power plant.
The mission of tOD's Regenerative Consultancy and Architecture is the activation of projects across architecture, design, and art by creating unconventional links at the frontiers of science. The planting process was conducted using the Miyawaki afforestation method, which has proven more effective and environmentally impactful than other methods.
This is particularly important in the Zouk Mosbeh area, given the site's industrial character and the harmful impact of the power plant on the environment and public health. On-site activities were supported by volunteers, including AUB, and spanned several days.
The activities included soil clean up and recycling, compost making, mound preparation, and planting .
