WIL Lebanon 2020 successfully concluded phase 1 with over 10 online sessions and 11 co-innovation projects led by 55 Lebanese youth who persisted despite the challenging circumstances of the Beirut blast, the ongoing surge in Covid cases, and the economic and political crisis! 60% of WIL Lebanon's participants were young women and most projects were women-led. The efforts of these teams were particularly focused on the Litani Basin and tackled industrial, agricultural, and social challenges.
Dean Mohtar, Dr. Mirella Aoun and Dr. Roula Bachour each offered valuable expertise and mentorship, and served on the evaluation committee that determined the winning projects. AUB will administer seed grants to the winning teams, assisting with building prototypes and pilots in the proof of concept phase.
