Mabelle Chedid participated in Agricultural Panel Discussion Zareit Albna

In an enlightening panel discussion on agriculture, hosted by Open Ideo Beirut Chapter (July 28), Dr. Mabelle Chedid highlighted the importance of the local food system, consumption, and production. We learned that an agricultural strategy with a production calendar is essential to organize food production in Lebanon and would enable the local market to reach saturation and allow for more importation. The session concluded on an optimistic note when Dr. Chedid revealed that she considers the skyrocketing prices of imported pesticides, which became unaffordable for local farmers, a great opportunity to adopt organic agricultural practices.
