Dr. Rami Zurayk participated in the “Regional Consultative Technical Meeting”
which was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Regional
Office for the Near East and North Africa (NENA). The meeting was held in
Cairo, Egypt (January 20). Dr. Zurayk was invited as a discussant in the
thematic session addressing "Building resilient farming communities to
boost local economies and create decent rural employment".
in Cairo gathered senior officials from governments in the Near East and North
Africa region and from FAO to discuss and review topics falling under the
overall theme of the Regional Conference namely that of food system
transformation in order to achieve the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs).
The regional consultative meeting has been organized
in anticipation of the forthcoming 35th session of the FAO Regional
Conference for the Near East, which will take place in Muscat, Oman (March 2-4)
and will gather ministers of agriculture of the region.
