Blending geospatial data with multi-media through an insightful narrative, the AgHive team published its second storymap: 'Revolutionizing Smart Irrigation with AgSAT', that unfolds the story behind the development of the application. The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UNSDSN) featured the storymap under the SDGs Today storytelling hub collection of SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.
Farmers, water managers, and other stakeholders anywhere in the world can use AgSAT at the field, regional, and country scales. Smart irrigation may provide an indispensable opportunity for combatting water scarcity and mitigating the impact of climate change on the region's dwindling water resources.
The published storymap introduces the significance of smart irrigation in the MENA region and the Fertile Crescent, where water management under climate change is a key concern. The storymap highlights the role of AgSAT in bridging the gap existing between research and development applications at the farm level. At its core, the storymap presents the unique features of AgSAT, and calls attention to building on farmers' adaptive capacities to build resilient water management practices in the face of climate change.
The storymap is one of the many outputs of the ITSET project and is published as part of the Esri ArcGIS StoryMaps community.
