The Ajyal Salima team usually travels once a year to conduct training with health educators in partnering countries, such as Bahrain, Jordan, and Palestine. However, travel restrictions and uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic have forced a shift in how to bring people “together" for meetings across international borders.
After the successful implementation of Ajyal Salima's online “train the trainers" workshop that included health educators, nurses, and teachers from Lebanese public and private schools, the team led by Dr. Carla Habib-Mourad began with training teams from the Middle East.
The first two-day training of trainers with an international team took place in Jordan (December 8 & 9). Twenty-three health educators from the Royal Health Awareness Society (RAS) received online material developed specifically to help the team implement online sessions with the students. These included interactive presentations, videos for healthy recipes, and various hands-on activities. The new approach of virtual training will continue with the Ajyal Salima materials are used to train teams from Palestine and then Bahrain.
