Dr. Hadi Jaafar was invited to speak and present his research on remote sensing and evapotranspiration at the ET4FAO project workshop (March 25). The project, a collaborative effort between FAO and the European Space Agency (ESA), supports the production of ET products using Sentinel-2 multispectral satellite imagery and Sentinel-3 thermal imagery. ESA is funding the new project Increasing crop water use efficiency at multiple scales using sentinel evapotranspiration – ET4FAO, which aims to explore the use of these Copernicus data sources in the FAO WaPOR methodology.
Dr. Jaafar presented Copernicus-based ET estimates using the TSEB model applied over the vineyard site at AREC and the potato and corn fields planted last year. He showcased a comparison between Sen-ET and the HSEB model he is developing for global ET monitoring at the field scale.
