As part of FAFS Lecture Series, FAFS hosted (November 17) Dr. Agarwala who gave a webinar on the topic of Wealth Economy as an approach to defining, measuring, and delivering sustainable economic growth. 21st-century progress cannot be defined by 20th-century models and statistics. From climate change and biodiversity loss to inequality and Covid-19, this talk described an investment strategy with sustainability and prosperity at the core.
Dr. Agarwala highlighted the natural, human, social, physical, and institutional capital as the fundamental ingredients of economic prosperity and called for leaders at all levels and in all fields to focus on building this portfolio of assets rather than chasing short-term gains.
Dr. Matthew Agarwala leads the Bennett Institute for Public Policy's Wealth Economy project at the University of Cambridge and is Co-Investigator of The Productivity Institute. His work spans various sectors and disciplines, with co-authors including ecologists, conservationists, social anthropologists, civil servants, members of the UK Parliament, and Nobel Laureates in peace, medicine, physics, and chemistry.
