Imad Keniar, Masters Student in Plant Science/AGRI shared research work in Universities Fighting World Hunger (UFWH) summit at UC Davis

Imad Keniar presented his graduate research work, Uptake of Gentamicin and Oxytetracycline by Plants Irrigated with Contaminated Irrigation Water, online at the UFWH summit (March 25) at UC Davis.  He explained his findings on how those two veterinary antibiotics can be transmitted to the soil through spreading manure and irrigating with waste water, and can later affect soil microbiology: increasing  resistance to some organisms. Keniar underlined how crops can also uptake such antibiotics and thus affect the quality of produce.
