LDEM hosted Dr. Katarzyna Rędzińska, assistant professor at Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography, Department of Spatial Planning and Environmental Sciences (August 27 - September 25, 2021). Dr. Rędzińska is a landscape architect and member of the Association of Polish Architects. She has authored or co-authored eighteen projects in landscape architecture, two publications received awards. Her current research focuses on climate change mitigation and resilience.
During her visit, Dr. Rędzińska carried out research on teaching methods such as tutoring and mentoring. She assisted with several studio courses, including LDEM 228 (Studio V: Urban Landscape Design) with Dr. Beata Dreksler, offered to 3rd year landscape architecture students and LDEM 241 (Studio VII: Landscape Capstone Project I) with Dr. Yaser Abunnasr, offered to final year students. She exchanged experiences in teaching methods with LDEM faculty members, focusing on methodologies used in teaching urban design and planning, urban greening, plant ecology, and sustainable water management. Dr. Rędzińska also offered a short hybrid multi-disciplinary course: Systemic Design Workshop - Systemic Design for Sustainability (LDEM 298A), which was attended by twelve students from five different faculties at AUB. Many potential synergies and possibilities of further collaboration and common actions between AUB and WUT were discussed.
