Plants and connecting to nature improve people's mental health and wellbeing and the annual spring plant sale of the Department of Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management (LDEM) contributed while respecting all safety measures related to COVID-19. This year, the sale was held on specific days over 3 weeks (total of 6 days) to allow maximum visitors without overcrowding. AUB's faculty and staff were excited to choose their plants from the list shared in the announcement before visiting LDEM's propagation greenhouse in the FAFS eco-unit.
A wide variety of plants, including different types of vegetables, herbs, indoor and outdoor ornamental plants were propagated. LDEM indicated in the announcement that plant enthusiasts should bring their own bags to reduce plastic waste. On the final day of the sale, vegetable seedlings were donated to several staff members from the custodial services department.
Stay tuned for the Fall plant sale, which LDEM is planning for the month of September 2021. The Fall sale will focus on indoor plants for offices and home as well as plants for balconies.
