On the occasion of World Food Day (October 14), Dr. Rami Zurayk was featured at an international panel discussion during the 2021 Global Hunger Index (GHI) launch event organized by Welthungerhilfe and Concern.
The GHI was launched to focus on the critical issue of food systems in conflict contexts. The event grouped policy experts and practitioners to examine the outcomes of the recent UN Food Systems and answer the question 'what next?' looking towards COP26, nutrition for growth and beyond. It focused on how the collective commitments from these various Summits can deliver real change for the millions of people across the globe who continue to suffer the compounding effects of hunger, conflict, climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Zurayk underlined how the same entities feeding people are feeding conflicts with weapons as well.
