On February 24, FAFS hosted Mr. Nizar El Khoury, Innovation Consultant, and retired Procter & Gamble R&D executive. Mr. El-Khoury is a seasoned consultant in the areas of innovation, consumer insights, and holistic product development. Recently, he was President of Strategy and Innovation at the Valen Group, a boutique strategy firm serving Fortune 500 companies. In his previous role as R&D Associate Director at Procter & Gamble for 30+ years, Mr. El Khoury established new opportunities globally behind winning innovation strategies, leading innovation programs from insight identification to commercialization and bringing together the consumer, technology, and marketing functions through the product development process.
Innovation is the lifeblood of most successful companies. While the basics of sustainable innovation are common and widely applicable, innovation in food represents specific challenges rooted in the cultural and personal nature of the category. In his lecture, Mr. El Khoury re-examined the foundational elements of successful innovation and how it applies to food. He also emphasized how conceptual superiority can be a powerful driver in innovating food.
