On May 9th, FAFS held the Sustainable Use of Water Resources in Food Production Webinar to commemorate Dr. Ralf Klingbeil's dedication to protecting water resources. The webinar featured Dr. Leon Gorris, Food Safety Expert at Food Safety Futures, Dr. Kang Zhou, Food Safety Officer at FAO, and Dr. Nadim Farajallah, Director of the Climate Change and Environment Program at AUB, as well as graduate students from FAFS.
The event included presentations on the concept of fit-for-purpose water, recommendations for the microbial criteria for water use and reuse in food production, and insights on climate change-induced water scarcity in food production in Western Asia and North Africa.
A call for donations to support graduate students in their research was announced during the webinar to continue the legacy of Dr. Klingbeil. We would like to thank those who donated and kindly invite you to expand this initiative by donating toward this fund.
