Nahla Hwalla presents at the First International Conference on Health Promotion held by Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) - Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)

​Dr. Nahla Hwalla, professor of Nutrition at the Nutrition and Food Sciences Department (NFSC) at FAFS,​ virtually presented (Feb 1) the topic “How Lifestyle Impacts Health" at the First International Conference on Health Promotion held by Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) - Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). 

Dr. Hwalla discussed the effects of different lifestyle factors such as physical activity, sleeping, smoking, alcohol drinking, and particularly nutrition, on health and diseases while shedding light on the results of multiple recent meta-analyses conducted on this topic in view of the considerable prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the MENA region and the adverse nutrition shift towards westernized food patterns high in calories, fats, and sugars. She concluded her presentation by stressing the importance of following a healthy lifestyle, including the adoption of a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes.
