Dr. Rami Zurayk, Professor at the Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management Department and Director of the Food Security Program, participated as a panelist at a high-level United Nations regional seminar mandated by the UN Human Rights Council on “The Contribution of Development to the Enjoyment of all Human Rights."
The panel discussed the contribution of the development of food, water, and sanitation infrastructure and governance to the enjoyment of all human rights. Dr. Zurayk shared his reflections, experience, and expertise in the areas of food and nutrition, security and sustainable development in Arabic-speaking countries. Dr. Zurayk gave examples of specific Arab strategies involving the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The panel was set as a contribution to preparing a summary report to present the report at the fifty-fourth session of the Human Rights Council.
